From the New Guy

Hello to my new Carthage family. Today I’m packing up and preparing to head your way on Monday morning. I’ll be in the office and working starting Tuesday. I can’t wait to be with you all on Palm Sunday. I’ll also be visiting LifeGroups throughout my first several weeks with you.

As I stated previously, I sincerely want to get to know each of you. If you’d like to meet with me, just call the church office and we’ll make it happen. For now, I’d love for you to be my friend on Facebook (several of you have already done this). Facebook is a great way to get to know the real me, see what I’m up to and follow the adventures of my family, music, movies and favorite places to eat. You can send me a friend request here.

Finally, I’d like to strongly encourage you to consider our current i3 series. I want you to focus on the “Invest” and “Invite” parts of the series and keep them in mind with Easter quickly approaching. If you’ve been investing in your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers (which I hope you have), now is the time to go to the next level and invite.

We’re kicking off a great new series on Easter Sunday entitled Losing My Religion. This is going to be a wonderful series for people that are interested in God, but not so sure about church. I’m writing not only to our regular members, but to you who may be checking us out online first. If you don’t like religion, if you are skeptical about religion, this will be a great series for you. Come on out and give us a shot!

For those of you that want to join me, I’d like to invite you to fast and pray at least one day before Easter. Pray that God would do amazing things in our midst. Pray that lives would be changed and that eyes would be opened to the good news of the Gospel. For some of you, fasting may mean giving up something like TV or internet for one day–that’s fine. The point is to focus on Jesus and listen to God in a dedicated time of prayer.

I’ll see you all on Palm Sunday, and I look forward to meeting whoever you’re going to invite on Easter Sunday. This is a wonderful time of year, and I can’t wait to be with you all as we worship, grow and serve together.

Please pray for my family as we’re apart. They will be joining me the first week of May! God is good. See you soon!
