Thailand Team Prayer: Church in Bangkla

As the Forest Park 2010 Thailand Mission Team serves on their mission trip, we would like to ask the church to be “on mission” too by daily praying for the team. Each day throughout their trip I will post details about what the team is doing that day. I will also share specific ways you can pray for them. We would love for you to pray these requests a day ahead, if possible!

Feel free to add prayers and encouragements in the comments section below each post.

Sunday, November 14 Prayer:
Pray that our team will be a blessing to the church in Bangkla, where we will attend and John will preach. Also, pray that we will have safe travel later today through the national park to the north on the way to Korat. Pray specifically for John and Blake.

Saturday in Thailand–Veni, Vedi, Visa: I Came, I Saw, I Did a Little Shopping

Today was our off day. This morning we had sticky rice and mangoes for breakfast, and I passed out the notes and cards you sent with me. Thank you for giving that love and encouragement! After breakfast we went to Thai Country Trim, a business started to help rescue women in poverty (by giving them a job) and spread the Good News (by teaching them and their families about Jesus). Our team picked up Thai purses, Christmas ornaments, elephants (not real ones of course) and other items. Some of the women bought so much they are going to have to buy additional luggage later today in Bangkok to get it all home. Since one dollar equals 28 Baht, these gals were whipping out bills with 500 and 1000 on them. Apparently the Thai monks have had a powerful impact on your loved ones, because they are coming home with orange…

Friday in Thailand

I’ll start with the bad news. Dianne’s voice is back. Also, my bed was terrible. In several places the bed springs poked me harder than Sheri when I snore. In the bathroom there was no separation between the shower, sink and toilet. When you shower, the water gets all over the commode and the entire floor gets wet. Plus, this wasn’t a flush toilet. You have to dump water into the stool to make it flush. Motel 2 may have been a little generous on the rating system. But I don’t care. I slept great, and our room had free wi-fi. I’ll gladly trade a flushing toilet for internet access. And we had fresh pineapple for breakfast which was super yummy.

Now for the good news. On one of our LONG van rides I burst into song, “Ezekiel saw the wheel, way up in the middle of the air. Ezekiel…

Thursday Clinic

It took us about an hour to get to Prachin Buri, the site of our second clinic. When we got there, instead of a large group waiting to see us as is the normal pattern, there were only about a half-dozen there. Most of the time we have clinic in a school or other public building. This time we were hosting a clinic in a church building, and Thais are leery of Christians. The new pastor of the church had done a good job inviting the community to come. They just didn’t feel comfortable.

After we helped the half-dozen, Dr. Doug gathered us into a prayer circle and prayed a powerful prayer that the Lord would send people our way. Later we learned that the six who bravely entered the walls of the church went to their neighbors and told them about the positive experience they had in our clinic.…
